Secret Invasion
The objective for this project was to create an animated video of a title sequence for the MARVEL show “Secret Invasion”. Designers were tasked to explore the limits of letters and how they can be expanded as shapes. Adobe After effects and Illustrator were used predominately for this project.
Final Animation
Show Synopsis:
In Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.

Story boards
Initial Story Boards:
Type variations were explored to see which types felt appropriate for the TV show and initial ideas were mocked in Adobe Illustrator. A key factor to keep in mind were the MARVEL logo and the use of green to signify the Skrulls in the show.
Refined Story Boards:
Story boards were critiqued and sketches were used to expand on feedback for further development.
Graphics
Graphic elements were created in Adobe Illustrator and then imported into After Effects.
Skrull Earth:
The Skrull Earth presents how many Skrulls have infiltrated the Earth within the story. The conscious choice of green was used to continue the signifier of green being associated to Skrulls.
MARVEL Logo:
The MARVEL Studios logo is a recognizable symbol for audiences and is utilized as an object in this design. The logo is a representation of a spaceship that brings the Skrulls down to earth.
Skrull Letterforms:
Letterforms of the Skrull alphabet were used to symbolize the Skrulls invading the earth undetected. In the final iteration, the forms play a small role but if the viewer can catch the detail, they can appreciate the thought of the design choice.
The Harvest:
The Harvest holds a central role, serving as the story's climax; its shape is a simplified version of its depiction in the show. The element ignites curiosity, leaving viewers questioning the object's context. Their patience is rewarded upon completing the entirety of the show.
